3Do Some Quick Cleaning Hacks.

There are a lot of ways to make your home appear cleaner without having to spend days scrubbing every inch of your house. These tasks are so simple it’s crazy. I did a blog post a while back on 16 Ways To Make Your Home Appear Cleaner, you can read that Blog Post Here.

Or Even Pin It To Pinterest For Future Reference.

Believe it or not, there are little things you may have not noticed before that can make your home look messy. These little things are smeared and dirty windows and doors, dusty or dirty wooden tables, cluttered surfaces and smudges on the walls.

The biggest hack I’ve learned along the years is to mop my walls. This may sound silly but I promise it will make a dramatic difference within your home. This will also work great on your doors, baseboards and moldings.

How To Mop Your Walls.

Invest in the Hurricane Spin Mop and some all purpose cleaner. The main reason I love the Spin Mop is the mop head goes into a spinner built into the bucket. You place your foot on the pedal and push down two to three times. This spins the mop to get the excess water out so it’s not dripping wet. The Spin Mop is also flexible and lightweight making it easier to maneuver the corners and baseboards.

The Hurricane Spin Mop is a system made up of the bucket and mop. You have to buy this as a pair but can buy replacement mop heads. Lastly, the mop head is washable.

4Purge

Being we are in a brand new year, try and start the year out right by getting your home decluttered. I know it is easier said then done, especially if you struggle with a lack of motivation (such as myself).

However though by having a decluttered home this will ultimately clutter your state of mind. This does not have to be a huge project, just do a little bit everyday or every week. The key is to go at your own pace, no matter how fast or slow you purge, you will see results.

Throw out EVERYTHING that does not serve a purpose. Seriously, ANYTHING and Everything.

Last week- I went on a crazy decluttering spree. I completely purged the basement, laundry room, my boys bedrooms and the kitchen drawers and cabinets. The laundry room was my biggest nemesis. I had bedding piled up that we don’t really use much. I went through and thrown out anything we would not use.

Then I went to the laundromat to wash any comforters, blankets and bedding that could be used. Even though we have a washer and dryer, by taking larger-more bulkier items to the laundromat, it makes washing only five large loads at the laundromat compared to 20 at home. This got rid of 3/4 of the piles in my Laundry Room.

So the meaning behind this rant is that if you ever get behind on your laundry, like 90% of us, go to the laundromat and get caught up.

5. Clean As You Go

This may seem self explanatory. But by picking something up that’s on the floor as you walk by that’s not supposed to be there or even as simple as putting the bread away after making a sandwich. ( I know I’m not the only one guilty of this right?! ) This helps you become mindful of your home and what you need to do to keep your clutter down. After a while this will turn into a habit.

I know myself that I struggle with putting stuff off, not putting something back after I’m finished or as simple as picking up one of my sons toys. By just doing it right away it will help to elevate your burdens.

If you never read Mel Robbins The Five Second Rule, try to read it, or listen to it like I did on Audible. She talks all about how to count down from 5 and do it right then. This is a fantastic read and one of the books that actually helped me with my procrastination.

6. Clean Light Fixtures On Ceilings.

Do you know them light fixtures that cover your ceiling light bulbs, well they get super dirty. Most of the time they come off with a couple turns of a screw. I take these light fixtures down periodically and wash them with warm soapy water in my kitchen sink. Dry off when finished and replace. Also, if you have different colored bulbs within a certain section of your home, replace the bulbs to match each other. Make sure to use all yellow or all daylight.

Wrapping Up,

By doing these simple 5 minute cleaning hacks can make a tremendous difference on the appearance of your home. If you add in a daily cleaning routine, you are most certainly setting yourself up for success.

Let me know in the comments if you have any hacks that you want to share that aren’t listed above.

Also, let me know if you already do any of these cleaning hacks I listed in my post above. Make sure to follow me on Instagram for more inspiration!
